Farnsworth Art Museum

The Farnsworth Museum celebrate's Maine's role in art, with over 20,000 square feet of gallery space and 15,000 works in their collection. This world-renown is worth a visit.  (In walking distance of the CMCA)

Center for Maine Contemporary Art

Experience the art of this generation and the next. With its iconic sawtooth roofline, CMCA’s striking building, designed by architect Toshiko Mori, houses exhibitions and educational programs are made to inspire and attract visitors of all ages and backgrounds. (In walking distance of the Farnsworth)

Maine Lighthouse Museum

The Maine Lighthouse Museum (MLM) is the proud home of the largest collection of Fresnel lighthouse lenses and the most important landmark collection of lighthouse artifacts and Coast Guard memorabilia in the United States. The museum has just merged the spectacular lighthouse collection from the former Museum of Lighthouse History of Wells, ME with the MLM exhibits. The two collections are now on display and marvelously compliment each other.

Project Puffin Visitor Center

The National Audubon Society started Project Puffin in 1973 in an effort to learn how to restore puffins to historic nesting islands in the Gulf of Maine. Their visitor center is located right on Main Street.

Owls Head Transportation Museum

Founded in 1974, The Owls Head Transportation Museum is just a short drive from downtown Rockland and operates a collection of aircraft, ground vehicles and engines at a number of special events conducted throughout the year. 

General Knox Museum

Located a short drive from downtown Rockland, this museum allows you to to explore the people and purpose behind the American Revolution. Doors and grounds are open to touch, feel, smell, and even taste life as it was 242 years ago and imagine, in new ways, what it was like to participate in creating monumental, historic change.
